How to Make a Cardboard Tube Spooky Tree

Step 1: Open up the toilet roll. The easiest way to do this is to draw a T Shape along one side of the cardboard tube.

Start by drawing a line about ½ inch from one end of your roll, across one half of the tube.

Complete the T shape by drawing another line, from this line all the way down to the other end of the tube.

2. Cut along these lines, making sure to not cut the entire way through the roll. This ring shape will need to stay intact because it acts as a stand for your spooky tree craft.

This step may be hard to visualize, but if you watch the video it will be easier to understand what to do in this step.

3. Open up the toilet roll and draw your spooky tree on the open section.

Cut it out using scissors. Younger children will need help with this step, especially the face on the inside of the cardboard tube.

4. Paint your scary Halloween tree in black paint (or whatever color you’d prefer).

I love Crayola Washable paints. Even with art aprons on. My kids still manage to get paint all over themselves and the furniture. Washable paint is a staple supply in any craft box for kids. Now that I know I can just hose our outdoor craft area down, I’m not scared to paint with my kids anymore.

5. Glue a small rectangle of orange craft paper to the inside of the Halloween toilet paper tree.

Viola, now you have a spooky Halloween tree to help decorate your home when Halloween comes around this year.

If you’ve got tea lights, you can always put the tea light into the toilet roll ring and have the light shine through the face in your spooky  trees. Or perhaps you’d like to add some spider webs hanging from the branches. Let your kids’ imaginations go wild and see what fun twists they can add to this simple Halloween craft.
