Spray Bottle Activities

1. Spray Painting – fill spray bottles with colored water and spray them onto the paper to make some art. Not only is this fun to do, but these pictures look amazing when dried.

2. Spray Bottle Helicopter Craft – Turn an empty spray bottle onto a helicopter craft. Bonus hint: when painting on plastic, mix a little glue into the paint to help it stick better.

3. What’s That Sound Game – This was one of my sons favorite spray bottle activities. He loved walking around the garden spraying different things to see what sound they made. Things like our DIY splash pad, pop up shade tent and the roof to the cubby house were the most interesting.

4. Pretend Play: Cleaning – grab a cloth and “clean” whatever you like. I used out outdoor chalkboard for this activity, that way we could alternate between drawing and cleaning.

5. Mixing Colors – place each of the primary colors into a spray bottle and see what happens when you mix them together. This is a fun way to teach colors as well as develop fine motor skills.

6. I Spy Spray Bottle – Learn how to make your own I Spy Bottles. This is a fun game that will keeps kids entertained for ages.

7. Posting – Posting is a great way to help babies and toddlers develop their fine motor skills. All they need to do is place some pom pom, craft sticks or even twigs out the garden into an open spray bottle.

8. Target Practice – Draw some target on a chalkboard, or plastic cups, and see how many you can hit with the water from the spray bottle.

9. Water Fight – This is a classic for a hot summers day. If you don’t have water pistols at home, these make an amazing alternative.

10. Fountain Challenge – To play this game all you need to do is: lay on your back, open your mouth and spray a jet of water in the air. Then you need to see if you can catch the water in your mouth. Out of all the activities, this is the one my son enjoyed the most.
