How to make a DIY Butterfly Peg Board
1. Download and print the free butterfly template.

You can fine the template at the bottom of the pst, just click the large blue button to get your copy.
This free printable for kids comes as both an A4 or A5 sized template. You can pick which one would suit you best, depending on the size of the cardboard box you have.
2. Glue the butterfly onto the top of your cardboard box.

An old cereal box, or snack box works perfectly for this activity. It’s a great way to give new life to some of your recyclable materials.
3. Use a pair of scissors, or a small screwdriver to make holes throughout the butterfly’s wings.

My favorite way of making the holes is to first use a push pin to make the initial hole. I then use a small screwdriver to make the hole larger. (Make sure that these holes are large enough for the end of your pegs to fit through.)
4. Post your pegs.

Push the pegs through the holes to turn your butterfly into all the colors of the rainbow.
If you don’t have pegs on hand, don’t worry, you can always make your own.
Just use q-tips instead. All you need to do is paint the cotton bud tips, and then cut the sticks in half. I used this exact method to make a color matching rainbow fish peg board. Check it out if you want to see what the q-tip option looks like in action.
