Materials Needed

  1. Chalk
  2. A small container, one for each of the different colors
  3. Paint brushes
  4. Cup of water
  5. A grater

How to make DIY Sidewalk Chalk Paint

Step 1: Break up the chalk into small pieces.

I used a grater that I use for kids arts and crafts. However, you can also place the chalk in a plastic bag and smash it with a hammer until the chalk becomes a fine powder.

2. Place each of the colors in a different bowl, or a muffin tin, then add a little bit of water and give it a good stir.

Add a little water at a time until you get the consistency you want (usually the consistency of poster paints). If your homemade sidewalk chalk paint becomes too fluid, you can always add some corn starch to help thicken it up a bit.
