Materials Needed

  1. The free spotless giraffe printable
  2. A large (A4) ziplock bag
  3. Hair gel
  4. Small pom poms of any color
  5. A laminating machine and laminating sheets.

How to Make a Giraffe Sensory Bag

Step 1. Download and print the spotless giraffe pdf found below.

This free printable for kids can also be used as a base for DIY peg boards or sticker activities.

2. Laminate the giraffe, and place the laminated printable inside the ziplock bag.

I have to admit that this wasn’t what I had originally planned. Usually I like to remove the white residue from the ziplock bags with rubbing alcohol. (Which didn’t work this time due to a brand I haven’t tried before) Then place the printable underneath the ziplock bag instead of inside. However, this method works too.

3. Empty the bottle of hair gel and a handful of small pom poms inside the bag too.

4. Squeeze out as much air as possible from the ziplock bag before sealing it off.

How to play with your Giraffe Sensory Bag

Move the pom poms around the hair gel until they line up with the giraffe inside. This will make the giraffe look like it has rainbow spots. Not only is this a fun way to learn about zoo animals, by discussing fun giraffe facts for kids, it’s also a great way to help develop fine motor skills.
