How to Make and Play the Halloween Roll and Graph Activity

Step 1. Download and print the digital pdf, found below.

2. Cut out and assemble the dice.

I like to put something in the middle of the dice to make it more sturdy. I like to cut two toilet rolls in half and stick the four pieces together. Bend them until they’re in the shape of a small square and stick it in the middle of the dice.

Another option is to laminate the dice before cutting and folding. This gives the paper more strength and will mean the dice doesn’t crumple at the first throw.

Another idea, which I haven’t personally tried. Is to just stick the individual pictures to the side of a giant foam dice.

Find whichever way works best for you and your classroom.

3. Roll the dice and observe which picture is facing upwards.

4. Color in one of the rectangles above the matching picture on the graph.

5. Repeat rolling and coloring.

Some children will just keep rolling until they’ve got every space filled. I like to give each child ten throws to roll and graph out. That way they can see how one picture turns up more frequently than others. If they really enjoy this activity, then I let them do it again after other children have a turn.
