1. Draw the Easter egg design

Use the black marker to draw an Easter egg design.

If you don’t want to draw, you can also download an easter egg free printable template from one of the easter coloring pages instead.

2. Add dots of paint

Place dot or stripes of paint down one side of your egg shape. I also placed a few dot in the middle of the easter egg template, but this is optional.

This step is a great time to experiment with different color combinations, or maybe to even try a little color theory with younger children.

3. Get the cardboard ready

Cut out a small piece of cardboard from an old cereal box and fold it in half so that one side is straight.

You can also use an old credit card or a ruler if you don’t have any cardboard in your recycling.

4. Scrape the paint across

Take the cardboard and scrape the paint from one side of the egg to the other. If you have a lot of excess paint on your cardboard you can either wipe it off with a tissue, or use it to color in any bits of your picture that din’t get painted the first time.

5. Let the paint dry

Leave your easter egg paintings to dry before you move onto the next step.

6. Cut out the egg

Take a pair of scissors and cut out the outline of the eggs. Learning to use scissors is an essential life skill that kids will need before they start school, but it also has the added bonus of being a great way to develop fine motor skills.
