  1. Kitchen Sponges (At least 2 per sponge bomb)
  2. Scissors
  3. Rubber band
  4. Buckets of water

1. Cut the kitchen sponges into strips.

Take your kitchen sponges and cut them, long ways into strips. I decided to do 4 equal strips, but you can do more or less, depending on what you feel like.

2. Lay two sponges on top of the other.

Stack two sponges on top of each other. I like picking two different colors but you don’t have to.

Once again, you can add more sponges to your sponge balls if you like. However I found that 2 worked perfectly for me.

3. Grab the strips in the center, and tie elastic bands around the middle.

You can use whatever you have on hand to tie all of the strips of sponges together. I used a rubber band, but you can also try:

  1. zip ties
  2. a piece of string or a piece of twine (just cut the excess string off)
  3. hair elastic

4. Spread the pieces out.

Spread and arrange the different strips out into a small ball shape.

Classic Water Fight

Use these sponge bombs instead of water balloons. You can have a great water fight on a hot summer day and not have to worry about single use plastic. It’s amazing how much fun the whole family can have with just a few sponge pieces and a bucket of water.
