Simple Spring Garden Sensory Bin for Toddlers
How do you feel when Spring finally arrives? I don’t know about you, but the warmer weather always makes me itch to go outside and get my hands dirty. I used to encourage my kids to comes with me until they started pulling out all of the new beautiful flowers while saying “weed”. Needless to say, that stopped pretty quickly (I’ll try again when they’re older). Materials Needed
- Green rainbow rice
- Dried black beans
- A large tub
- Craft carrots
- Craft flowers
- Sensory bin tools (cup, spoons and bowls)
How to Make a Spring Garden Sensory Bin
1. Fill the tub with the fillers.
Place the green rainbow rice in one half of the tub and the dried black beans in the other half of the tub.
If you don’t know how to make rainbow rice then check out this easy taste-safe rainbow rice recipe. It’s so easy to make and if you store it properly, it can last you for years.
2. Add in the carrots.
“Plant” the carrots inside the half of the tub that has the black beans. This will be the veggie patch side of your garden.

3. Add in the flowers.
Place some fake flowers in the green rainbow rice side of your tub. This will be the flower garden side of your sensory bin.
4. Enjoy playing.
Gather your cups, spoons and bowls and enjoy playing.
