How to make a Toilet Roll Stamp Spider

1. Create your spider legs.
To do this, you’ll need to take your scissors and cut about ⅓ of the way down the toilet roll. Make 4 legs on each side of the tube, and spread them outwards.
Remove the remaining section of the cardboard tube so that when you bend the legs, the entire tube is the same level.

2. Draw a spiderweb onto a sheet of paper.
This is optional. I used a grey sharpie to raw the spiderwebs, it took 2 minutes and gave our pictures a bit more context.
It also provided a fantastic opportunity to talk to kids about spiders, how they make their webs and what they use their webs for.

3. Dunk your toilet roll spider into some paint and ensure that all eight legs an the ring around the center of the tube is covered in paint.
As you can see, I let my kids choose whichever color they wanted their spider to be. My spider was classic black, while theirs turned out multicolored.

4. Stamp your toilet roll spider onto the spiderweb drawing. Press each of the legs down to make sure the paint transfers correctly.
5. Remove the stamp and paint the middle circle left by the toilet roll. Again this is an optional step that I felt like doing.
You don’t have to worry about getting out paintbrushes too, remember that you can let your kids fingerpaint the center instead.
6. When your paint is dry, glue some googly eyes onto your spider.
