How to Make Black Glue Easter Eggs

1. Download and print the free templates.
You don’t have to use the templates, older children will probably like to design their own easter egg using a pencil instead.
However, if you prefer, there are four A4 and four A5 templates for you to use. Just head to the bottom of the post and click on the blue button to grab your free printable.
The templates are in a light grey, so that the lines don’t compete with the black glue. If you prefer to have a darker easter egg template instead, then download the free easter coloring pages instead. They have easter eggs in black ink that you can use.

2. Trace the lines with black glue.
Young children may have problems applying the black glue by themselves. If you are doing this art activity with toddlers and preschoolers, they will need you to prepare this part of the project for them.

3. Let the black glue dry.
You can also make your own black glue using regular clear liquid glue and black gel food coloring. Simply mix a few drops of food coloring into the glue and you’re ready to go.

4. Paint your picture.
We used watercolor paints to decorate our easter eggs, although you can use any kind of paint you like. I prefer using watercolor paint with black glue art because, even if you paint over the lines, the black glue outline still shines through really clearly.

5. Let your picture dry.
What You’re Learning

Creativity
Let your kids experiment with colors and patterns while they make their own easter egg pictures.
Arts and crafts are a great way to use your imagination and then use that idea to create something in the real world. This is important not only for artistic pursuits, like painting or music, but also for problem solving. Which is an essential life skill that everyone needs to develop.

Fine Motor Skills
Fine motor skills refer to the small muscles in the hand and fingers. Developing these skills are important in being able to write when the kids go to school, as well as being able to complete tasks independently. (For example, dressing and feeding themselves).
Holding and moving paintbrushes, and black glue bottles around is all going to help young kids develop:
- Pincer grip
- Hand-eye coordination
- Dexterity.
