How to make a Cut the Grass Activity
Step 1: Download and print the Cut the Grass printable

This is optional, to make it easier to prepare for a whole class. However you can also use coloring pages, or insect stickers to make a hidden scene underneath the grass.
To get your free copy of the printable, just head to the bottom of the post and click the large blue button.
2. Take a piece of green craft paper and cut it into strips.

Make sure not to cut all the way through, stopping 1 inch before the edge of the paper.
I found it very easy to cut several pieces of paper at once. Grouping pages before cutting will make it faster to prepare this activity if you are doing it with multiple kids.
3. Glue the 1 inch strip at the bottom of each page together.
Make sure the grass is covering the printable picture so that the kids can’t see the picture at first glance. Then wait for the glue to dry before letting your kids play.

4. Enjoy playing
Give the kids some scissors and encourage them to “trim” the grass, revealing the picture hiding underneath.
Encourage them to talk about what they find, helping them to increase their vocabulary at the same time.
