  1. Construction paper in different colors
  2. Scissors, or flower shaped punches.
  3. Glue stick
  4. The free printable flower templates found below (optional)

1. Download and print the free template

Print the free printable flowers designs onto each piece of paper. I tried printing the floral design onto both plain and patterned paper from the craft store. It was a fun way to make our colorful collage art a little different.

You can find the free templates below. Just head to the bottom of the post and click the large blue button to get your copy.

2. Cut out the flowers

Use a pair of scissors to cut out each of the flowers. Using scissors is a great way to help young learners practice their fine motor skills. However very young children, like toddlers, may need an adult to help them with this step.

Classroom teachers may want to invest in some flower shaped paper punches instead. This will be easier than cutting out flowers for 30 or more kids by hand.

3. Assemble the flowers

You can make small flowers and large flowers by gluing the different sized pieces together. We had a lot of fun mixing and matching the different colors to see how the flowers looked.

4. Glue them onto the background

My kids found it easier to spread glue all over the background paper instead of the individual flowers. But you can do whichever method works best for you.

5. Let it dry

Once you’ve placed all of your flowers, all you need to do is let the glue dry.

If you want to turn this art project into a Mother’s day gift, you can always fold your background paper in half first, and then glue the flowers into the front cover.

You can also try gluing yellow pom poms or some tiny seed to the center of your flowers if you want to try making some different versions of these colorful flowers.
