You can find the link to the flash card set below. Just head to the bottom of the post and click the large blue button to get your copy.

2. Laminate each of the pages

Run each of the pages through a laminating machine. This is to give each of the cards some extra stability. If you don’t have a laminating machine you can also print the cards onto some thick cardstock or glue them onto pieces of cardboard.

3. Cut the pages into the individual cards

Use a pair of scissors to cut each of the pages into the four individual cards.

4. Enjoy playing

Now you and your child are ready for a fun-filled lesson.

There are so many different ways you can use alphabet flashcards to play. Which is wonderful because it means they can grow with your kids. Here are some of my favorite ideas.

1. Increase vocabulary

This is perfect for babies and toddlers who are still trying to learn new words. Show them a card and say which picture is on the front. This will help them to increase their vocabulary as they sit and listen.

2. Letter recognition and beginning sounds

This activity is perfect for kids who are starting on their literacy journey. Each card has both a lowercase and uppercase letter. As well as a picture that starts with that sound.

I like the idea of getting a set of alphabet magnets, then encouraging your kids to place the magnet letter on top of the matching flashcard.

3. As a prompt for charades, 20 questions or pictionary.

You may prefer this idea for older kids who are experts at recognizing their ABC’s.

Shuffle and stack the cards, placing them facedown. Then pull one out and use it as a prompt for any number of games.

My personal favorite has been charades, because I just love watching my kids dancing around, trying to act out the picture.
