How to Play with the Free Christmas Tree Printable for Kids

There are several different ways to play with free printable Christmas tree templates. You can choose which way works for you, or come up with your own activity using the Christmas tree outline in the digital file found at the end of this post.

Cut and Paste Activity

Step 1. Practice scissor skills by cutting out the gift boxes and Christmas decorations found with your Christmas tree shape in the printable pack.

2. Glue the pictures onto your tree outlines.

Of course, you can also use different items to include in this Christmas craft idea. Items such as pom poms, glitter glue, candy canes, sequins and of course star stickers would all look wonderful. No matter what you choose to use, this is a fun way for kids of all ages to make thier own Christmas tree.

Fine Motor Activity

Use the blank Christmas tree as a base for a fine motor activity. There is no better way to strengthen fine motor skills in toddlers and preschoolers this holiday season.

You can use tweezers, or just a regular pincer grip, to place buttons, mini erasers, or other small Christmas themed items around the printable templates.

Sticky Wall Activity

Sticky wall activities are great for 2 different reasons.

  1. Working on a vertical surface helps to develop upper body strength.
  2. You don’t have to worry about glue being messed everywhere.

To turn this fun activity into a stick wall play idea, simply:

  1. Use painters tape to attach the tree printable to a wall or fridge door.
  2. Cover the picture in contact paper (sticky side up), and attach the contact paper to the wall or fridge door with masking tape too.
  3. Decorate the tree however you wish.

If you are going to turn this Christmas craft into a sticky wall activity, just be certain to choose items that are small and light. Heavy items won’t stick to the contact paper and your kids may get frustrated because their pictures aren’t cooperating.
