I enjoy DIY projects. Since I live In Australia, I often can’t find exactly what I’m looking for. Although I can buy it online, paying the delivery costs to get things to this side of the world is often more expensive than the actual item I’m buying.

DIY doesn’t have to mean difficult, time-consuming or even the need for tools. My DIY No-Paint Road Blocks are made with regular office supplies and take 10 minutes to make. Materials Needed

How to make a DIY Laundry Monster

Step 1: Prepare your extras. This means molding the air drying clay into two horn shapes and letting them dry. As well as stuffing your novelty socks to make arms, I used newspaper because that is what I had on hand. However, I think that styrofoam balls, like the ones used in bean bag chairs, would create a nicer shape while still being very light.

2: Paint everything. I used spray paint and I am so glad I did because it made this DIY project so easy. I’ve never used spray paint before but I was thrilled to see how fast it was, not just to paint, but to dry too.

When painting the face, make sure that you paint the mouth around the opening of the bin lid. Like in the picture below. This way it looks like the monster is actually eating the laundry.

3: Glue on your arms and your horns with some hot glue. Although these are both optional I liked how it gave the laundry monster more character. At least I did until my kids tore them off. I’m going to change the hot glue to superglue and see if that makes a difference. If not, then this laundry monster is just going to have no arms.

Did it work?

Yes, it worked wonderfully. Picking up the dirty laundry and feeding it to the monster has definitely made that one chore a lot more fun.
