How to Make an Egg Carton Caterpillar Craft

1. Take a 12 pack egg carton and cut it in half, lengthways.

2. Paint one end of the egg carton with red paint.

One thing that I would like to do differently would be to glue some pipe cleaner antenna to the caterpillar’s head. It would be so easy to just attach them with a hot glue gun or by making small holes in the top of the head.

3. Paint the rest of the egg carton with green paint.

Of course, you can always choose a different color if you prefer. I also like the idea of turning the caterpillar’s body into a rainbow because then it would be a great color recognition activity for early learners.

4. Create facial features using googly eyes and a black marker.

There are a few different ways you can make eyes for your colorful caterpillar.

  1. Glue googly eyes
  2. Use white circle stickers, then draw the pupils on with a black marker.
  3. Use a white paint pen, then draw the pupils on with a black paint pen.

Which method you choose will depend on what craft supplies you have on hand.
