1. Ladybird

Kids love heading out into the garden and catching ladybirds. Unfortunately, they’re not always easy to find. If you want to surprise your toddler, create a ladybird hide ‘n seek game. Make a whole heap of these cute little egg carton insects and then hide them while your toddler naps. When he wakes up, see how many he can find.

I love this Egg Carton Butterfly from Crafty Morning. Just look at those beautiful colors. If you think that these are beautiful then you have to check out Crafty Mornings post on tissue paper swirled egg carton flowers. 3. Egg Carton Snails

I used playdough to make the body of these snails. I like the idea of being able to make them again and again, but if you want a more permanent body then check out this easy to make recipe for salt dough from The Best Ideas for Kids.

I’ve used salt dough to make both hanging Christmas tree decorations and fridge magnets with my little ones. I used the fridge Christmas tree magnets in this post about fridge door activities. It was a huge hit and we still get them out even when it’s not December.

6. “Jumping” Grasshopper Craft – Motherhood on a Dime

Do you love the idea of making a grasshopper that can actually jump as much as I do? I couldn’t believe how easy it actually was until I read the “Jumping” Grasshopper craft tutorial from Motherhood on a Dime. It’s such a fun craft and interactive craft that I know kids will go crazy for.

7. Caterpillar

This colorful caterpillar reminds me of the Very Hungry Caterpillar, the classic childrens book. If you make your own butterfly wings for him, you can act out the story. Your kids will love watching their egg carton insect turn into a beautiful butterfly.

8. Ant Craft – Teaching Mama

This cute Ant Craft for Preschoolers from Teaching Mama looks so happy. If you think this little guy is adorable, just you wait until you see Teaching Mamas Glowing Firefly Craft. I know my son loved it, he gets excited whenever something glows in the dark. Since we don’t have fireflies where I live, I love the idea of making a few of these and going Firefly hunting in the garden at night. Having a nighttime scavenger hunt would be so much fun.

9. Egg Carton Bee

I love how this bee turned out. It’s also such a great way to introduce your kids to the importance of bees to our world. After all, they’re not just for making honey.

With this little bug, your kids can play with bees without the fear of getting stung. Which is particularly great if your little ones are allergic to bees.
