Preparation

Download the file and print out the pages you want to use.

Worksheets: Laminate the pages to make them reusable, or you can use them as is for an easy, no-prep, activity.

Whiteboard: For this version it’s best to have a magnetic white board whiteboard, and you’ll need to attach magnetic strips to the back of your pictures. This will make it easy to create a new maze whenever you need.

Gross Motor Game: Print out multiple copies of this page, you’ll need a collection of jellyfish to give your students a challenge. Use the large jellyfish as is, or glue them onto some cardboard to give them a bit more stability.

How to Play

Worksheets: Use a pencil or whiteboard marker to draw a pathway from the clownfish, through the jellyfish, until the turtles on the other side of the page. The key is to make sure that the path does not touch any of the jellyfish, or else your clownfish will be stung.

Whiteboard: Use a whiteboard marker to draw a pathway from the clownfish, through the jellyfish, until the turtles on the other side of the page. The key is to make sure that the path does not touch any of the jellyfish, or else your clownfish will be stung.

Once you have completed your pathway, erase the line, shuffle up the jellyfish and start again.

Gross motor game: Lay out the jellyfish, in a large open area. This can be either outside, or on your classroom mat.

In this game, the student is the clownfish and needs to make it through a jellyfish maze without touching the jellyfish. They can run, jump, walk or “swim” to the other side as fast as they can without tripping or falling over.

To make this game more challenging, place the jellyfish closer together or create dead-ends to trap your students.
Younger kids can start out with the jellyfish further apart to give them room to maneuver.

Use this Paper Plate Turtle Craft to create the turtle end point on the opposite side of your jellyfish mazes.
