1. As a finger painting activity

Each of the ice cream math mats has a row of ice cream cone at the bottom of the page. Each of these contain a different number, from 1 – 10. Dip your thumb or finger into some paint, and press it above the ice cream cone. The fingerprint will now look like an ice cream scoop.
Place as many fingerprint scoops of ice cream above the cone, as its number says. For example, For the ice cream cone with the number 6 written on it, place 6 thumbprints, stacked up on top of the cone.
Repeat for each of the different cones.
2. As a fine motor mat.

Use laminated ice cream worksheets to help develop fine motor skills along with math skills. This is a wonderful ice cream activity for small groups in your preschool and kindergarten math centers.
Use pom poms, buttons or other small manipulatives to represent the ice cream scoops. Line up the correct numbers of small parts on top of the cones. This is a great math activity for helping young children to practice one-to-one correspondence.

Idea 3. Use with dry erase markers
Use dry-erase markers to draw the ice cream scoops on top of the cones. This is a wonderful way for little learners to get extra practice with their pincer grip while they’re counting and drawing.
