Materials Needed

1. Penguin math puzzles pdf
2. Printer and paper
3. Laminating machine (optional)
4. Pom poms or other manipulatives

How to Make the Penguin Puzzles

1. Print off the set of printable puzzles that you would like to use.
2. Cut out the pieces.
3. To make the puzzles more sturdy, either laminate them or mod podge them onto a thick piece of cardboard.
4. Collect some winter-themed manipulatives and enjoy learning.

How to Play

Option 1 – Number of Snowflakes to Numeral Matching

1. Say the focus number in the speech bubble.
2. Count the number of snowflakes falling from the clouds.
3. Match the number of snowflakes to the number in the speech bubble.

Option 2 – Count out the Snowflakes

1. Say the focus number in the speech bubble.
2. Count out the same number of manipulatives and place them onto the puzzle.

I used white Christmas pom poms for this puzzle. But of course, you can use whatever you have on hand. This option is a great way to develop fine motor skills while learning a bit of math.
