How to Make the Valentine’s Roll and Graph Activity

1. Download and print the digital PDF.

The pdf has two activity pages. One is the DIY dice which has all of the pictures on it. The other page is the graph worksheet. You’ll need to print at least one of the graph worksheets for each child doing this activity.

2. Cut out the dice template.

Make sure that you cut out the additional tabs along the top and side boxes. These tabs are essential for when you are assembling your dice.

3. Fold and glue the sides together.

If you’re a teacher and are doing this activity with an entire class, then I recommend investing in these educational pocket cubes. They’re a set of foam dice with clear pockets on the side, so that you can switch the pictures whenever you like.

However, if you’re only going to do this activity at home with one or two children, then you can just make your own instead.

To make your dice more sturdy, place something inside it before you close it completely. Here I’ve tried just a regular ball of paper to give it a bit of extra strength. However you can also use foam building blocks, toilet paper rolls or anything else that you can think of.

How to Play

1. Roll the dice and observe which picture is facing upwards on the set of dice.

2. Color in one rectangular section above the corresponding picture on the graph worksheet.

3. Repeat step 1 and 2 until one of the pictures has its entire column colored in.
