1. Download and print the free printable lacing cards.

These lacing cards are free for Taming Little Monsters newsletter subscribers. To get your copy, just fill in the form at the bottom of the post and the pdf will be emailed directly to you.

2. Laminate the sheets.

This step is optional, but I highly recommend it. Laminating easch of the cards will make them more sturdy and means that you can save them to use for next years class.

If you don’t want to laminate then I would glue them onto a thick sheet of cardboard, so that they don’t break so easily.

3. Cut out each of the vegetables, and use a hole punch to make the lacing holes.

I like to cut out the lacing cards after I’ve laminated them. This way I only have to cut out the card one time.

If you want to cut out the cards first, then laminate them. You’ll have to cut them out a second time again.

4. Tie a piece of string or shoelace to one of the holes.

This is optional, you don’t need to tie the shoelace to the lacing card. I only do this if I have enough shoelaces for each card, and if I’m worried about the kids losing them.

5. Enjoy playing.

How all you have to do is thread the end of the shoelace through each of the holes on the card.

This is a wonderful way to encourage kids to develop their fine motor skills while they play.
