  1. Valentine’s Day Dominoes pdf file
  2. Printer and paper
  3. Laminating sheets and machine (optional)
  4. Scissors

1. Download and Print

You can find the digital download below. Just head to the bottom of the post and click the large blue button to get your copy.

2. Laminate

Once you’ve printed out the pages you can laminate them to make them more sturdy. However, this step is completely optional.

You can also print the cards onto thick cardstock instead to make them more durable than regular printer paper.

3. Cut out each of the cards

Use a pair of scissors to cut out each of the individual cards.

1. Place the dominoes face down

Shuffle and place all of the different valentine’s dominoes face down.

2. Both players pick up 5 cards

Each player will need to pick up 5 cards.

The traditional dominoes game class for 7 cards. However, this version is designed for very young children and 5 cards is more manageable for toddlers.

3. First player put down one card

The first player put any card they chose into the middle of the board.

Each card has two pictures. Sometimes both pictures are the same, but most of them will have different pictures.

4. Second player puts down a card with a matching picture

The second player needs to observe the two pictures on the board and find a matching picture on one of the cards in their own hand.

Next the second player will need to take the card with the matching picture from their hand, and place it end to end (both pictures touching) on the board, with both of the matching pictures next to each other.

5. Take turns putting down cards

Step 4 is repeated with each player taking turns. You can only place a card down onto the board, if the picture matches one of the pictures that is on the end of the line, not in the middle.

The winner is the player that puts down all of their cards first.

When there is no matching picture in you hand

If you don’t have a card with a matching picture, then you will need to pick one up from the excess card pile.

If the new card that you pick up does have a matching picture, you can put it down on the board before allowing the next player to take their turn.
