How to Make Christmas Sensory Bottles
Dry sensory bottles – these are simply a matter of placing whatever items you choose into the bottles and closing the lid.
My kids particularly enjoyed the jingle bell sensory bottle, because they could shake it while they sang along to some Christmas carols.

Wet sensory bottles – these involve filling your bottle with an item, such as sequins or glitter and then adding in a mixture of water and clear glue.
Adding in the glue is optional. Its purpose is to thicken up the liquid so that when you shake the bottle, instead of all the items falling to the bottom immediately, they fall more slowly. The more glue you add, the more slowly the items inside swirl and move around the bottle.

Scented sensory bottles – These bottles are intended to help kids explore their sense of smell, as opposed to just sight or sound. You can either place items that are naturally scented into the bottles, or you can place a few drops of essential oils onto a tissue or cotton ball and then place that inside the bottle.
Some scents that are perfect for Christmas include:
- Peppermint (from candy canes)
- Cinnamon
- Pine Needles
- Cocoa Powder
- Ginger (from gingerbread)
- Roasted chestnuts
