How to Make the Free Fall Scavenger Hunt
1. Download and print the printable scavenger hunt found below.

2. Print off a copy of the checklist for each student in your class.
You can also laminate the checklists if you prefer, or use a page protector. This is a great way to make the fall scavenger hunt list more sturdy and reusable. Which means that you can save this fun activity and do it with next year’s class too.
3. Print off a single copy of the flash cards and cut them out.
Once again, you can also laminate each of these flashcards to make them more durable.
How to Play with the Fall-Themed Scavenger Hunt
Option 1. Use the checklist to mark items off as you walk around the neighborhood.
Turn it into a neighborhood scavenger hunt: this is a great way for the whole family to get some physical activity. You can check off how many items you find during your trip to the local park or if you want to go on a nature walk on brisk mornings.
Not only will you have a wonderful time, but you’ll also be helping your kids to develop their observation skills at the same time.
Option 2. Hide the flash cards around the classroom or playground.
Then give each child a checklist, to mark off the list of items as they find the hidden flashcard.
I prefer this method when working with a whole class or younger kids. Toddlers and preschoolers will have a great time finding a pine cone or colorful leaves. However they might miss other signs of fall like the bird and hedgehog. Having flashcards is a wonderful way to make sure that even very little children can find the entire list and join in on the fun.
It’s also a great idea if you want to talk to kids about the change of seasons, and how the natural world changes this time of the year.
