Materials Needed

  1. The Fall Syllable Count and Clip Cards digitable download.
  2. A laminating machine and laminating sheets
  3. Scissors
  4. Clothespins 

How to Make the Fall Syllable Count and Clip Cards

Step 1. Download and print the free printable for kids found below.

2. Laminate each of the pages and wait for them to cool.

3. Cut each page into the four different cards. With the picture on the top and the 3 squares with numbers at the bottom.

4. Collect your clothespins and get ready to play.

How to Play

Step 1. Identify the picture.

Do you have a sunflower, spider web etc on your card?

2. How many syllables are in the name of the picture.

For example, the word sunflower contains three syllables. Encourage your class to clap out the word and then count each clap.

3. Look for the same number on the bottom of the card. 

For example, the word sunflower has three syllables, so you’ll need to find the number 3 below the picture.

4. Use a clothespin to clip onto the card, over the numeral that matches the number of syllables for each word.

For example, if you have the sunflower card,  you’ll clip the clothespin onto the numeral 3.
