Materials Needed

  1. The Farm lacing cards printable, found below.
  2. A printer.
  3. A laminating machine and laminating sheets.
  4. Scissors
  5. String or shoelaces

How to Make Farm Lacing Cards

Step 1: Download and print the free farm lacing cards printable found below.

The printable includes six different farm animals. Included are a duck, horse, cow, pig, chicken and sheep. Explore the different animals with your kids, what sounds they make, their job on the farm, etc.

2. Cut out each of the farm animals.

3. Laminate the pictures.

4. Cut out each of the pictures again, leaving a ¼ inch border of clear laminating sheet.

This is optional. If you prefer, you can laminate the entire A4 sheet and then cut out each animal at the end. Doing it this way is faster and easier. However, I find that when I’ve tried it this faster way, the cards aren’t as sturdy. They are more likely to come apart when they are played with.

This may not be an issue if you are a mom, preparing this activity for your kids. But if you are a teacher, and want the cards to last a few years, you may want to consider putting in the extra effort.

5. Use a hole punch to make holes (where the grey dots are), around the edge of each card.

6: Tie a shoelace or string to one of the holes.
Again, this is optional. I like to tie the string to each card because I lose them if I don’t.
