How to Set up and play with the Halloween Scavenger Hunt

There are different ways to use this simple Halloween scavenger hunt. It all depends on whether you want to do this activity at home for a Halloween party, in the classroom or out in the neighborhood for some Halloween fun. Which way you play will depend on the age of your kids and how much prep work you are happy to do.

In the Classroom

1. Download and print the fun Halloween scavenger hunt.

The free printable is found below. Head to the bottom of the page and click the blue button to download your copy of the pdf.

2. Cut out each of the clue cards.

If you are having a classroom party, then you can use these clue cards and hide them around your classroom. Younger kids will have so much fun exploring the school playground and classroom looking for all of the items.

3. Hide the different halloween items around the class or your home.

If you have small props of the spooky items, then you can use those instead of the pictures of the items provided. See what you have on hand and feel free to use a mix and match of the pictures and props that you have.

For example, you can hide toy spiders and let your kids tick the toys off the list, instead of a picture of the spider.

4. Place the list on a clipboard and enjoy playing.

I like using a clipboard because it’s easier for the kids to carry around and write on while they’re moving around.

5. Once you find an item on the list, place a tick in the box provided.

Out in the neighborhood

1. Download and print the list page of the digital download only.

You’ll need one copy per child or group if you decide to have a little friendly competition.

2. Place the list on a clipboard.

3. Walk around the neighborhood and tick off the items you find.

This is a fun activity for the whole family to do when it’s Halloween time. Walking around the neighborhood, even before Halloween night, is a great activity to help everyone get in the Halloween spirit.
