  1. Penguin Cut and Paste – free printable craft template
  2. Printer and paper
  3. Scissors
  4. Glue
  5. Blue and white craft paper

1. Download and print the penguin cut and paste template

The penguin template is free to download and use. Just go to the bottom of the post and click the blue button to get your copy.

2. Cut out each of the individual pieces.

Cut out each of the template pieces. Using scissors is a great activity for young children who need to work on their fine motor skills.

3. Make your background.

This is completely optional. I liked the idea of having a snowy hill for my little penguin to stand on. However, if you’re doing this activity with a whole class of preschool children, it may be easier to just glue your cute paper penguins to a one color background instead.

4. Start with the body.

The best way to assemble this DIY penguin craft is to start with the body. Take the largest oval and glue it in the center of the page. Try and get it between the middle and bottom third of the page, to make certain that the rest of the penguin will fit.

Glue the body with the white part of the oval facing towards the bottom of the page.

5. Glue down the head.

Use glue sticks to attach the head (the large black circle) of the penguin next.

6. Glue down the eyes, beak, wings and feet.

Finally, glue your additional penguin pieces of this winter project.

Of course, you don’t have to use all of the pieces. For example, you can use googly eyes for the penguin head instead of the ones included in the printable penguin craft template.

You can also add your own unique touches to your art project. For example, kids of all ages will have a great time using cotton balls to make a soft, snowy landscape for their cute penguin craft.
