How to Make Shape Stamp Painting

Step 1. Spread different colors of paint onto a plate.

Pick a plate, or cover a chopping board in foil. I liked to pick one color for each of the shapes we had on hand. But of course you can ask your toddlers and preschoolers to choose their favorite colors and go with those instead.

2. Dip the plastic shapes in the paint.

I used the plastic shapes from our classic shape sorting toy. My kids had outgrown this toy and I was looking for different ways to use it in a way my kids would like. Since the shapes were plastic, they were so easy to wash and use again.

3. Press the shapes onto your piece of paper.

My kids had so much fun making this easy art project. When they were finished stamping, I gave them a couple of paintbrushes and let them paint the actual shape toys.
