How to Make a Tissue Paper Hyacinth Craft

1. Use scissors to cut the cardboard into ovals.

I used the cardboard from an old snack box, but you can also use regular construction paper for your paper hyacinth flowers. Although, they won’t be strong enough to stand upright on their own when finished.

2. Glue the popsicle stick to the back of the cardboard.

You can also use hot glue, or a piece of tape across the top of the stem to attach your craft sticks.

The green craft sticks will be the stem of the flower. If you don’t have any craft sticks, you can also use green straws or even a long strip of green pieces of paper.

3. Cut the tissue paper into small squares.

You can use tissue or crepe paper for your paper flowers. Both of them will work well for this fun craft project.

4. Glue the issue paper over the cardboard. covering it completely.

This step is optional. When I first tried this craft, I didn’t like how many brown gaps showed through the flower. So I tried pasting a layer of paper down first, and it worked perfectly.

5. Scrunch the piece of paper into a small ball.

6. Glue it onto the cardboard section of the hyacinth flower craft.

Repeat steps 5 and 6 until the entire flower is covered, or until your children are ready to move onto another activity.

7. Let it dry.

You can now place your beautiful paper hyacinths in a small vase to decorate your home or classroom.
