How to Make a Ghost Windsock Craft

1. Cut an A4 sheet of paper into quarters.

2. Roll the paper around the toilet roll.

One quarter of an A4 white cardstock paper is the perfect size to wrap around a toilet paper tube.

However, if you prefer you can also just paint the cardboard tube with white paint instead. Then wait for the paint to dry before moving onto the next step.

3. Draw a ghost face.

There are several different ways to make the ghost’s face. You can use:

  1. Use black paint
  2. googly eyes
  3. Use a black sharpie

While I used a black marker to draw a spooky ghostly face, you can do what you like. You may prefer to make a smiley face and make friendly ghosts instead.

4. Cut some white tissue paper into strips.

I used white tissue paper because that’s what I already had in my craft supplies. However I think that pieces of crepe paper would be perfect for this Halloween craft.

5. Attach the strips onto the bottom of the toilet roll.

Use a glue stick, or sticky tape to attach the tissue paper to the bottom of the ghost. I placed mine on the inside of the toilet roll. However younger kids, like preschoolers will probably find it easier to attach the paper to the outside instead.

Repeat this step until there is paper lined around the entire toilet roll.

6. Make two holes at the top.

Use a hole punch to make a hole on each side of the top of the ghost heads.

The best part about this step is that using a hole punch is a great way to help kids of all ages develop fine motor skills.

7. Thread string through.

Cut a piece of string and thread it through each of the holes at the top of the windsock. Then tie the two ends together, forming a loop. Then you can hang your wind socks on the front porch along with the rest of your Halloween decorations.
