Materials Needed

1. Printer and paper
2. Acrylic paints in different colors
3. Paint brush

How to Make a Handprint Butterfly Craft

1. Download and Print the Free Template

You can find the free printable template below. Just head to the bottom of the post and click the large blue button to get your copy.

2. Place Paint Over Your Child’s Hand

Use the paintbrush to spread paint over your childs hand. Giving your kids a different colored acrylic paint to choose from is a perfect way to give this craft a personal touch.

3. Press the Hand Down Onto The Template

Place your child’s handprints onto the paper, pressing down firmly while still keeping at the still so that the paint doesn’t smudge.

I find that the best way to make the butterfly’s wings is to place the bottom of your palm to the back of the butterfly, with your fingers pointing towards the top right hand corner of the paper.

4. Let the Paint Dry.

Finally, all you need to do is lift up your child’s hands and let the paint dry.

If you want to turn these butterfly handprints into a wonderful keepsake, then I also recommend laminating each page before giving it to your students’ family member.
