Snowflake Art for Kids – Easy Winter Art

This Fingerprint Snowflake Art for Kids is one of the most simple winter crafts you can imagine. It’s a fun, messy art activity that is suitable for the whole family. Even for babies, toddlers and preschoolers will have a great time making their very own fingerprint art this Winter season.

Adult supervision is required for all activities at all times. Some of the links provided in this blog are affiliate links. I will be paid a commission if you use this link to make a purchase.

The holiday season can be tough on parents and kids who don’t want to be inside all day. If you’re trying to find fun ways for your kids to play this Winter, then start with these Winter activities for kids. Or invest in the Winter Activity Pack, which is filled with educational ideas for young kids.

  1. A4 construction paper
  2. Blue paint in different shades
  3. Silver glitter glue (optional)
  4. Pencil or light colored pen

1. Draw a snowflake design onto the A4 Paper.

If you are doing this winter art idea with a class, it’s most probably easier to print out your snowflakes instead. These free printable snowflake templates from Simple Mom Project are perfect for this, and many other snowflake art projects.

2. Place some paint and your silver glitter glue onto a plate or paint container.

Of course, you don’t have to use silver glitter glue. I just had some on hand and thought it would be nice to let the kids add a bit of sparkle to their snowflakes.

There are so many fun ways to make snowflake crafts with just a bit of imagination. Use what you have on hand, such as:

  1. Paint
  2. Sequins
  3. Bits of colored paper.

3. Dip your finger into the paint and paint over the lines of the snowflake.

Although my kids did start by sticking to the lines I had drawn for them, it didn’t take long for them to just paint wherever they wanted and make their own masterpiece. Which was perfect, art is about the process of making, not the end result.

4. Let your picture dry.

Another idea to try is to flip your colors around. For example, use light blue paper and white paint instead. Your child’s fingerprint will then look like falling snow when their pictures are finished.

I love fun kid craft ideas, especially when we’re stuck inside on a snowy day. However, I am not a fan of paint going everywhere. These kids’ art ideas are simple, fun and so easy to clean up afterwards. They’re a great way to spend time with your kids this holiday season.
