Block Painting Art Ideas to Try
Actually making any sort of block painting is very easy. Just dip the block into some paint and press it onto the paper like a stamp.
I used foam blocks for these different art activities because they are so easy to wash, and you can use them again and again.
Free Form Shape Art

This is both a shape picture, and a shape matching activity. All you need to do is:
1. Paint the blocks and press them down onto the paper in a random pattern.

2. When the paper is dry, match the original blocks that you used to paint the picture, to the shapes on the paper.
Block Painted Hyacinths

Use your finger to paint green stems, then use a circle block to make the purple flowers. I used two different shades of purple for this picture, but you can use whatever you like.
Block Painted Car

Use a rectangle, semi-circle and small circles to make this car picture. This is a fun way for kids to see how regular pictures are essentially made up of different shapes.
Block Painted Boat

This boat is made from triangles, circles and a rectangle. I made the background using colored paper, but you don’t need to. A boat on a regular white sheet of paper would still be a wonderful art activity for little ones to try.
