8 Subitizing Activities and Printables for Preschool

Subitizing is an essential math skill that preschoolers need to learn. It involves recognising small groups of numbers quickly, without the need to count each individual object.

Perceptual Subitizing Printables

Perceptual subitizing is the ability to instantly recognize a small number of objects, usually five or less. That is why the printables in this section focus on subitizing numbers 1-5 only.

1. Number Pathways

Draw a pathway from the shark to the fish by following the number. Each shark will tell you which number to follow as you move through the maze.

2. Subitizing Clip Cards

Clip a clothespeg onto each of the matching number representations. Not only will this help teach kids subitizing, but they’ll get a good fine motor workout too.

Conceptual Subitizing Printables

Conceptual subitizing is the next step after perceptual subitizing, and involves breaking down large groups of objects into smaller groups and then adding them together.
