20 Free Printable Paper Snowflake Templates

Grab your copy of these Free Snowflake Templates and make your own beautiful paper snowflakes. This is a classic craft that kids can use to turn your home into a winter wonderland.

There are two levels of difficulty in the cutting templates below. The first section of free templates (template 1-12) needs to be folded 4 times, which means that there are more layers of paper that need to be cut through. I recommend using these snowflake stencils with older kids who have well developed fine motor skills.

The second section of pdf files (templates 13-20) are better suited to little kids. These templates only need to be folded 3 times and have larger and simpler snowflake patterns.

This electronic file is for personal use and classroom use only. It is not for commercial purposes. By using it, you agree that you will not copy or reproduce the file except for your own personal, non-commercial use.

2. Cut out the large black square.

Start by using a pair of scissors to cut out the large black square which holds the design.

3. Fold the paper along the grey lines

Fold the square in half along the diagonal line. Then keep folding along the lines until all you are left with is a large triangle. When you are folding your template, make sure that the section with the white and gray areas is the triangle that is on the top.

4. Cut out the paper snowflake patterns

Use your scissors to cut along the black lines, which outlines the snowflake design.

5. Unfold the paper.

Carefully, unfold the paper and flatten your snowflake. Younger children might find it tricky to unfold the snowflake without accidentally ripping some of the smaller sections. If that’s the case, then this child will need an adult to help them.

6. Laminate (optional)

When your snowflakes are finished you can laminate them. This is completely optional.

I liked laminating mine because it made them more sturdy, so I could save them and use them to decorate the house for years to come.

Each design has two types of templates for you to use. The first is a cutting activity, where you fold and use a pair of scissors to cut out the designs. The second is a simple craft template that you can use as snowflake coloring pages, for painting or even for making these giant crystal snowflakes.
